are the children of celebrities fair game for gossip?
for those that think it’s inevitable: would you personally gossip about them?
my thumb up goes to proud. welcome to the tiny minority….

In a way I think they are,but then again I don’t think it is right to gossip about people you don’t know especially if they are children.I am indifferent on this one.

Nope.

But it’s their parent’s job to keep them out of that scene.?

I guess it comes w/ the territory but it’s not fair.

Oh, and how can one compare the Obama children to Paris Hilton anyway???

ETA: Nope, I’ve never been one to care at all about someone else’s personal life, no matter how famous they are.

If their parents don’t hide them from the limelight, then yes. It is to be expected.

I don’t think even the celebrities themselves are "fair game", let alone their children. It saddens me that these people can’t even walk to their mailbox without 50 thousand photographers standing in their driveway snapping photos. They are just normal people like you and I who just so happen to have an interesting job. I know so many people argue "It comes with the territory", but sheesh. Its gone too far I think. They are still real life human beings like everyone else and deserve at least a little bit of privacy and normalcy. ESPECIALLY for their children.

*What if instead of movie stars, musicians and vocalists getting all the attention, suddenly all nurses or all bankers were in the lime light. Just because they have a certain career means everyone has the right to photograph them, follow them and write detailed (and usually fabricated) stories about their personal life? Photogs suddenly have the right to photograph their children and spread crazy rumors about them? Or tell all the details of their most recent sexual experiences? People feel they have a right to know about them and gossip about them just because they are a nurse or a banker?! Yeah, that’s completely "fair". These people are just people. I don’t know why so many other people are so enthralled with them.

I think it depends on how the parents treat the media. If they take the children out in public a lot and obviously are looking for attention then unfortunately the kids will become a public entity.

On the other hand, some celebrities go out of their way to avoid media attention for their children. Their desire for privacy should be respected.

Unfortunately it goes with the parents territory however unfair it is.

I don’t read gossip mags or watch those shows anyway

If you want to be in the spotlight all the time; then, yes they are. If you don’t want people talking about your kids don’t let the possibility of it happen.

Depends. What age are they and what are we gossiping about?

If they are over 16 (ballpark number, adjust it how you see fit), are they making simple, run of the mill, childish mistakes? Or are they, say, arriving at one of LA’s trendiest night clubs in shorty-short dress w/ no panties on & on the arm of one of Hollywood’s most notorious playboys, when they know good and well that every photog in the city will be there?

Unless the gossip is "Oh, look how cute!" Then, no.

No! not a chance! does anyone else remember what they did to chelesa clinton?? it was awful! i think children should be off limits. they didn’t ask for it. leave them be. that is something that ticks me off honestly. leave the kids out of it. to pick on a CHILD is wrong on so many levels and to do make a dig at them because of their parents? so wrong.

Good question. In general I would say no because children don’t deserve to "pay" for their parents careers. However, there do seem to be celebrity parents that enjoy flaunting?(I’m not sure what the appropriate word is) their kids to the paparazzi and in that case how can you expect the children to led private lives? The sad thing is, I am kind of interested by it. I don’t really have a good reason why, but I do read celebrity baby blog. What is really, really sad and I shouldn’t even confess is that I am oddly satisfied that my daughter is way cuter than some celebrity kids- I know it’s pathetic.

YES.. thats what celebs are for including their kids they’ve got all that money I don’t feel sorry for them at all, I’d have loved to be a celeb kid. I just think they should give them all equal coverage because I don’t want to hear about just Suri Cruise. Ok she’s cute but their over-doing it.

Unfortunately the children of celebrities have been MADE fair game for gossiping by the press and the magazine/newspaper owners who will do anything to make that extra bucks at anyone else’s expense. Greed drives the world today and less than pristine morals drives the greed. It’s really a shame that the youngest children of today will learn and improve upon the same tactics that are used by the money-hungry low life’s who are in control today. It’s a sad world we live in today.

Perhaps, with very known and popular celebrities. But it can always be avoidable. I wouldn’t say there would be gossip with the less known popular ones though.

I don’t think ANYONE is just fair game. As humans sometimes we can’t help ourselves but just because celebrities are famous doesn’t give anyone the right to riffle through their personal life and judge them. They are making money from their talent and we can speculate on what they do professionally but in my mind it’s wrong to pry into their home life.

I don’t think children of celebrities who don’t court the media (Al la kardashians, hiltons, etc, who DO) are not fair game.

As for celebrities whining about being bothered all the time, MOVE out of LA or New York, get a private place, don’t go to the media hot spots. Anyone ever hear Johnny dep, or Goldie hawn or Michael Douglas complaining about being bothered? Nope. Why? They moved out of the limelight. Anyone getting shots of their kids in the park? Nope.

Not if you are a mature adult they’re not…why would an adult want to slam a kid? Makes no sense. Children of celebrities didn’t ask for that life…Leave Them Alone for Petes sake.
No, I would not do it…..Ever!
