look into Gerber’s and lethermans too they seem to be more practical, last longer, and less dangerous

Yeah, with this day and age, ten year-olds are a bit young to own a knife. If you really want to get him something that he can use for a long time, get him a leatherman. And yes, even that is still really dangerous for a ten year-old child.
